2015 marks the Ten Year Anniversary of the installation of our Pipe Organ. Built by Dan Garland Organs of Fort Worth, our organ is the first Garland Organ in the Houston area. It has 35 ranks, which means 35 different sets of pipes, each making the same tone color for each note of its rank.

Dan Garland recounts that designing and building our organ was like "building a ship in a bottle" because the chambers were very small, having been designed for speakers of an electronic organ and sound system. To create more space, the ceiling height in each chamber was raised to 8 feet and casework was built out in front of each chamber to hold additional pipes.

Two dedication recitals were performed in 2005, one by Robert C. Bennett, and the other by Mormon Tabernacle Organist, Richard Elliott. Three organists have served as Staff Organist since the installation, Robert Bennett, Susan Riddell, and current organist Elenor Coursey. All three were honored in a special service commemorating the anniversary on Sunday, April 26, 2015

The Organ is often referred to as the "King of Instruments". Its great range of sounds and its ability to play the softest piano to a thundering fortissimo makes it unique among instruments.
