West U Methodist Children’s Ministry offers:

Preschool Chapel (school days) 

Our Chapel is filled with the wiggles, giggles, love and laughter of our young preschool children every Wednesday morning. We provide Christian education to our preschoolers and teach children to love Jesus.
 

Nursery (Crib and Toddlers)

We provide loving care for children during all worship services, church events, meetings and gatherings. Ten childcare professionals provide a safe, comfortable experience for your child while you are worshiping.

Preschool Sunday School

Bible lessons and fun activities are led by a talented group of 20 parent volunteers. Young children learn to love God and the church and begin to understand how they can serve in God’s name.

Elementary Sunday School

Through activities in the classrooms:(kitchen, computer, game, video and Bible), 20-25 parent volunteers help children to build their relationship with God and other believers and understand their place in the church.

Mission Clubs

Mission clubs are provided for children that attend West U Methodist Sunday School / Worship as an extension of their Christian Discipleship.

To Register for:

Each group meets monthly from 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. to carry out hands-on mission projects. Our van is loaded and ready for these service activities and others:

  • Planting flowers in the yards of senior adults
  • Serving sno-cones on a hot day to our neighbors in the Gulfton area
  • Car washing for our staff
  • Christmas time – handing out presents to children in the Gulfton area
  • Cleaning our Sanctuary
  • Volunteering at Elder Homes
  • Stocking shelves at CCSC
  • Handing out lunches to the homeless in Hermann Park
  • Hot dog lunch to friends in need
  • Valentine Flower Surprise for Sunday School volunteers

Kids on the Court

After-School program for Kindergarten through 4th grade with professional staff to lead sports and active games in the High Court / Snack Provided / Semester Fee / Registration Required / Limited Spaces.

Fall Semester begins August 30th (runs from August 30th - December 15th)

Registration for Spring begins November 16th click here for K-2nd, click here for 3rd-4th

Spring Semester begins January 10th (runs from January 10th - May 11th)

No Refunds given after registration

Tuesdays K – 2nd / Thursdays 3rd – 4th from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Cross Over – Just for 5th graders on Wednesdays

  • Yearly Fee / Online Registration / Registration begins August 15th
  • Meets August 31st - April 19th from 3:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
  • Meet every Wednesday of the month except the last Wednesday of the month (does not meet on school holidays nor early dismissal) and we follow H.I.S.D. inclement weather schedule
  • Wild games, food and friends 
  • Cross Over T-shirt – uniform of choice for school on Wednesday
  • Confidence-building and tools for facing challenges of middle school
  • Pudding Day celebration
