Senior Pastor Carol Bruse has been our leader at West U Methodist since June 2010. A go-getter from the first day, she has been instrumental in growing the programs that serve church members and the community around us. Her approachable leadership skills and genuine interest in a variety of worship styles make her ideal for our diverse congregation.
Carol’s background explains in part her flexibility and positive management skills. In her first career, she worked in building construction, using her degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Later, in preparation for the ministry, she completed a Master of Divinity from the Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.
At home she is humorously known as a Scrabble professional by her husband and two grown daughters. She says that her new bicycle is turning her into a cyclist but to check back next year for an update. Her longest-running interest is Rock ‘n Roll. Yes, really. For evidence, note her quickness to cite the Doobie Brothers and Huey Lewis as favorites.
Everything about Carol Bruse says "Welcome!” She shares herself and her love for the Lord in countless ways.
William Lucas is a lifelong Texan who feels he has returned home to Texas to serve God, his church and community. He and his wife Amanda graduated from Texas A&M, but were out of state for a few years while he pursued a Master of Divinity degree at Duke University Divinity School in Durham, North Carolina. Having completed that course of study in May 2015, William took up Associate Pastor duties here at West U Methodist. He works with adult programs, leads Bible study, assists in worship services and serves as an important link to West U Methodist’s work in the community of West University and the city of Houston.
While in North Carolina, he and Amanda developed an enthusiasm for Duke basketball but they say they are very happy to be back near Aggieland and Aggie Athletics.
